The Constitution currently states:
Section 2: The positions of Secretary, Vice President, and President, of the Western Maine Conference shall be appointed annually utilizing an alphabetical rotation. This rotation may be altered for extenuating circumstances by a majority vote of the members.
New Proposal: (to be instituted 2009)
The positions of Secretary, Vice President, and President, of the Western Maine Conference shall be appointed annually utilizing a seniority-based alphabetical rotation. Whereby the senior most members of the league are appointed annually to fill the positions of President and Vice President. The rotation may be altered for extenuating circumstances by a majority vote of the members.
Rationale:
1. In order to keep the original philosophy and integrity of the Western Maine Conference, only those who have been in the league for numerous years can offer the historical perspective through time, experience and leadership.
2. To eliminate the issue of having a new person assume the role of president prematurely.
3. The new rotation would recognize/reward those members who have been in the league for several years.
