Due to our current energy climate, the WMC Athletic Administrators have begun a pro-active collaborative process to address concerns regarding the rising cost of operating our athletic/co-curricular programs. Recognizing the costs associated with these offerings, the athletic administrators are committed to on going reviews of current cost saving measures and implementation of proven cost saving methods while still maintaining the integrity of our current program offerings.
Cost Saving Strategies Currently in Effect:
1. Regionalization of freshman soccer schedule
2. Limiting pre-season competitions
3. Reducing number of sub-varsity contests
4. “Bus-pooling” with other districts when possible
5. “Filling” bus trips with more than one team if locations are close
6. Coordinating transportation with HS and MS activities to reduce number of busses going out
7. Pairing Freshman Boys and Girls for back to back contests, same time or double headers
8. Playing quad games in basketball
9. Limiting the number of officials assigned to the minimum recommended
10. Limiting the number of security officers assigned to events
11. Limiting the number of event workers assigned to events
12. Maximizing the use of volunteers at events
13. Implementing Student Athletic Aides to complete tasks that reduce costs such as computerizing certificates instead of purchasing, working at events instead of paid workers, field set up, etc
Cost Saving Strategies in Discussion for Implementation:
1. Cost saving brainstorming sessions placed on every WMC monthly meeting agenda
2. Earlier game times in the winter
3. Regionalizing Freshman Basketball schedule
4. Additional ways to generate revenue
5. Maximizing advertising opportunities to raise revenues
6. Increase student bought equipment/uniforms – they keep
7. Consider weekend play, play days and min-tournament play for sub-varsity
